The Good Sister
by Sally Hepworth
Meh. Everything was zinging along for 3/4 of the book (I loved the matter-of-fact presentation of neural-atypical characters, doing the best they can to function in what appears to them as a nonsensical world), but then it all started to fall apart, because the author broke the cardinal rule—show, don’t tell! (i.e. Stick to demonstrating the antagonist’s psychosis instead of sermonizing and clinically micro-analyzing personality flaws—save that for Author’s Notes at the end of the novel.) 3.5 stars rounded down.
