The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker

3.5 stars This was great! I wanted a pandemic/world ends (but not necessarily dystopian) book and this hit the spot! I loved that it was told similarly to how the Handmaids Tale is told (reflective log/account).
If you’re not into pandemic/world ends account by a teenager, you might find this a bit boring/dragging. I especially loved having the teen perspective. YA in this genre tends to be dystopian and while society does fall a bit this isn’t true dystopia.
The slowing was an interesting construct and I enjoyed that this book covers “what happened” and the effects but also covers the human drama element of what happens to people in a stressful situation and now despite everything life persists and some things (like teenage crushes) still occur despite it all. The book can be very sobering.
