All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this one. Mental health is extremely important and should be talked about more and more, especially in literature. However, I can’t help but think that books like this one sort of romanticises mental illness - Finch’s struggles with bipolar disorders were almost portrayed as him being ‘quirky’ rather than taken seriously.

Also, I grew tired of books with the stereotypical blond-cheerleader character, it felt like Violet had no personality other than her own struggles with loss/depression.

It was an okay read. Again, still a very important topic to talk about but maybe not the greatest approach.
