Give Me a Reason by A.L. Jackson
2.0

alrighty…let’s get into it.

starting with the positive! this is a very, very wordy book. HOWEVER… the descriptions were beautifully written and really gave insight into how the characters are feeling. Eden and Trent are immediately drawn to each other and the amount of prose takes away the “insta-love” trope feeling i usually dislike and makes it feel much more meaningful. and i think there were a good amount of plot twists and actually caught me off guard and made me want to keep reading to find out what happens next.

now, that being said….i love myself a Brooding hero as much as the next person, but lord above Trent Lawson is the mopiest man on the planet. given his truthfully very dark past, i can understand. but he was somewhat insufferable even 50% through the book. i’ve read many a book with a broken MMC and each of them manage to budge a tiny bit but not him. it took away so much from my enjoyment when he constantly is stringing along our heroine and making her miserable 90% of the time.

i’m looking forward to the other books in this series, but this just missed for me.
