The writing was inconsistent, like there wasn't an editor. The FMC was one minute clever and sassy and the next as gullible as a toddler. The lies being told my her father were to the reader very easily seen as abusive and manipulative and despite knowing and experiencing that abuse from her father she believed those lies? That characterization and the plot already didn't mesh
