Recipe for a Perfect Wife by Karma Brown

4.0

In Recipe for a Perfect Wife, Karma Brown effortlessly seams together the lives of Nellie Murdoch and Alice Hale, two women who come from the 1950s and 2010s, respectively. Although their lives and circumstances differ greatly, eerie similarities emerge as Alice moves into the Greenville home that Nellie once lived in. This novel was a dual narrative which I feel can either be really well done or not so well done... In this case, I have to say that I preferred Nellie's story over Alice's. Nellie's story evoked a lot more sympathy in me, and I found her to be intensely brave considering the circumstances of her life.

If you find the first half of this novel to be sort of slow, I'd recommend sticking to it because the ending is entirely worth the wait!
