The first 2/3 or so comprised a highly original series of short stories that were very cleverly constructed, commenting on a variety of societal issues like capitalism and fatphobia. The tone was funny and fantastical and quite tongue-in-cheek, albeit with elements of body horror. Then the last section took a wild turn involving kidnapping, drugging and graphic torture, and the ending was ultimately dissatisfying. It took me a while to settle on a rating for this. That ending really didn’t work for me.
Graphic: Fatphobia, Torture, Kidnapping
Minor: Suicide, Terminal illness
