How Heathcliff Stole Christmas by Steffanie Holmes

5.0

Steffanie Holmes is amazing. I declare it here and now officially. If you can make a Christmas novella one of the best books, along with the other books in this series, I read lately, you're amazingly talented and good at what you do. It's a fact. Novella's are meant to be amusing, a little heartwarming, a treat for the fans. They are not supposed to make me cry because they're so well done and so well written.

The novella actually follows the same formula as all the other books in the series. There is some character growth, there are some emotional and very touching moments and there is this giant mystery that needs to be solved. I think this was the first one where I knew quite early on who might have done it, but that made it all the more enjoyable. Especially because this time the mystery wasn't a murder, but something way more innocent.

But, the mystery was not what this book was about. In a way the mystery of the stolen tree and presents was nothing but a backbone for the true story, the story of Heathcliff and Christmas and his trouble to sometimes express his emotions, the story if Mina and her head and heart, not always agreeing, and the story of Quoth, slowly finding his own place and worth in this world.

The development of the characters was so amazingly well done, that at some moment I was laughing and crying at the same time. This book touched something in me, even though it's May and even though the Christmas cheer is far away. This was so heartwarming and touching and lovely. Damn, what am I gonna do with my life once I finish this series?????
