Gotham Academy Vol. 1: Welcome to Gotham Academy (the New 52) by Brenden Fletcher, Becky Cloonan

3.0

This was a fun, fresh read that I checked out because I wanted to revisit some Gotham/Batman storylines. I'm also a sucker for boarding school settings- they're always so fun to read about!
The cast in here was my favorite aspect- I liked Maps the best; she seems like a vibrant and promising character who was definitely the light of this graphic novel. The main character, Olive Silverlock, is also growing on me, and I'm looking forwards to see where her story goes. I'm honestly hoping for some sort of Bat-power or something, but we'll see.
There were a few too unanswered questions and vague hints about past and current events for my liking. Between the ghost, the mysterious events of the summer, Olive's mom, the love relationships, and the thing in the walls, there was just a lot going on and not everything had a real solid direction to it. However, I sense a real potential for growth here! I look forward to seeing how this series develops! :)
