Balancing It All: My Story of Juggling Priorities and Purpose by Dana Wilkerson, Candace Cameron Bure

4.0

This book has been a pleasant surprise for me. I was worried when I first saw the cover that it would be directed only for women with kids or stay at home Moms; it was not that way at all. I enjoyed how Candace intertwined lessons learned from when she was a child actor (I had not known she had worked since the age of 5) and lessons from her adult life. I could personally relate to the struggles that she discussed (and example would be finding a balance in regards to downtime vs commitments). I also like how she would make chapters relatable for people not going through certain circumstances (E.g. putting your all into volunteering or taking care of the home if you do not work outside the home).

My husband I picked up this book also judging it by it's cover (he was looking for something to make fun of) and found himself very interested what what she had to say.

I have heard other readers say this was slow moving; I felt just the opposite and I actually had a hard time putting this down. I found this book motivating and not preachy and I found Candace's story and struggles to be real and relatable (with the chapter on working vs being a stay at home mom--I am not in that stage of life currently). I would highly recommend this book.
