The Reckoning by Kelley Armstrong

3.0

With this last book I finally finished this incredibly unremarkable series.
It was good enough that I felt the need to finish it, but I feel that in just a couple months I won't remember anything about the plot.
It was just al so jumbled together, with so many plot twists It twisted all the way back to the first assumption. "Ahhah this person is actually evil! No wait they're actually goog! No they ARE evil, only these guys are more evil!!". I feel like this book was so rushed as well. All the three books take place in two weeks in universe, leaving the pacing very weird. 3 books of slow-burn only to stumble into the relationship headfirst. I really think that the author wanted to write more books, but either gave up or wasn't allowed by her publisher. The book ends with a very definit "this story isnt over just yet" but the story IS over. There are no more books in this serie. Only spin-offs, but as far as I can tell those don't actually develop the plot further but are only introspects on other characters.
The reason I even read these books were Chleo and Derek. I thought their whole mutually disdainful to really moving friendship was so good. I was excited for the moving into lovers part but they didn't have time to really develop because the book only had 100 pages left to resolve like 80 plot threads. There has to be a limit to how many times a couple can get a interrupted near-kiss right?
Anyway, I finished. But am I glad I did? Mehdhhhhhggggg
