People muddling through life the best they can is one of my favourite genres.
Immediately hooked by opening scene: it's June, it's boiling or raining, everyone's got an opinion, and "no one has thought a coherent thought all month".
Big cast of complex, well-meaning, frustrating characters: maybe a few too many perspectives, but it's also one of those books where London is a character so I loved it.
So good at capturing the brilliance and panic of London, and how you're always on the brink of something, and how people, everywhere, are in their own heads too much. Very messy and queer and loving.
