The Shadow Cadets of Pennyroyal Academy by M.A. Larson

4.0

This sequel to [b:Pennyroyal Academy|20821011|Pennyroyal Academy (Pennyroyal Academy, #1)|M.A. Larson|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1401071573s/20821011.jpg|40166922] picks up right where the first one ended. Evie is back home for the summer with her dragon family, feeling more like an outsider and missing her friends from school. After about a month, she decides to make her way to Demetra's castle. While journeying by herself (and still figuring out how this human stuff works), she stops at an inn. At first celebrated for being a Pennyroyal Cadet, she is shocked to encounter a darker side of princesses. Back at school the year is off to strange start. There is an influx of new cadets due in large part to Evie's heroics the year before. She is a celebrity at school, although all she wants to do is resume her students and be with her friends. But even that has changed, as Demetra, Maggie, and Basil all seem to be going in separate directions. When Evie begins to receive threatening letters written in blood, she doesn't know who she can turn to for help. While the four be able to mend their friendship before it is too late? Suggest this action-packed, magic-filled adventure to fans of Harry Potter. You do need to read the series in order. Recommended for grades 4 & up.
