The Girl He Used to Know
by Tracey Garvis Graves
What. The. Fuck.
This book man. I was definitely annoyed by this book, because the descriptions, although accurate, don’t paint the real picture. This book is about Annika’s struggles with her autism and coming to terms with that, in addition to how it affects her relationships. Completely unexpected. It was done well, but it wasn’t what I was looking for.
Beyond that, there was a sudden tie in to 9/11 that seemed completely out of the blue (only real connection I could come to was an Elenor Roosevelt quote referenced earlier in the book). The first few chapters of “the twist” were heartbreaking and had me on the edge of my seat, but the resolution of the book seemed abrupt and like nothing was truly resolved.
Overall, I wasn’t thrilled with this one and I don’t think it was just for subjective reasons.
