I am sad to say that the Nine Eyes of Lucien disappointed me. I loved campaign two, and I really liked the other book Critical Role published, but I found this book hard to follow. I also wasn’t really clicking with the author’s writing. The plot felt very rushed at some points, especially during the ending. I also felt like the characters weren’t really flashed out, except for Lucien. While it was interesting to learn more about Lucien’s backstory, there is no way someone who hasn’t watched campaign two would have any idea what is going on. I think that’s a shame, because this book could have been used as an introduction to the Mighty Nein.
