Only Beloved by Mary Balogh

I guess I’ll keep this at four star on the reread. It was really the most boring of the books, the beginning and why they married was non eventful and their story the least emotional. Both main characters were a bit too perfectly perfect and the story kind of plodded along. The twist was exciting but everything else was pretty bland.

It has a nice little epilogue and it was nice to have it all tied up at the end. Thankfully she mostly wrote this fade to black so I wasn’t subjected to many more of her terrible sex scenes. Lots of people think I mean gross or overly descriptive when I say terrible, but this isn’t the case. These are not bad because of her choice of language, they are bad simply because the sex itself is bad. There is no finesse, no creativity, no passion and very little pleasure for the woman. It’s a lay back and think of England kind of situation and I find it depressing. Just close the door, because I’m tired of the second hand chafing. Foreplay is not something this author has ever heard of.

So read this to finish the series, it’s not terrible but don’t pick this up as a stand alone. It will be super boring for you.
