What to say about The Ensemble? I had heard many recommendations for this book, it has a beautiful cover and I think I may have expected too much. I found the members of the ensemble (Brit, Daniel, Henry & Jana) to be almost self absorbed and conceited always only thinking of themselves basically.
I know that in a tight group that you are constantly with practicing and perorming together, it could probably be easy to become super involved in each others' lives and not see outside of them easily, but I just didn't get a good vibe for them at the beginning and almost put the book down.
I ended up sticking with and liking the characters a little bit more during the 2nd half of the book, but there were times that I almost felt that deep down, they didn't even care for each other because they were so wrapped up in themselves some how.
They did all come from broken homes or pasts of sorts so that's probably what gave them the feeling of belonging to each other along with their musical abilities, but it felt superficial to me throughout most of the book. It wasn't awful, just not one I would necessarily say you have to read.
