The Notebook
by Nicholas Sparks
Absolutely wrecked my soul.
Growing up, my mom would tell me about this story and how much she cried over it. This summer she gave me her copy of the book, worn down from the years, with yellowed pages and memories.
I couldn't put it down. I've never cried so hard on a plane, next to strangers. This book opened a forever gaping wound in my heart, and yet I feel so full, so heavy with life since putting it down for the last time. I thought it was simply a beautiful love story, but this book has made me love and grieve in a way I deeply needed.
