I'm not usually a fan of procedural-type thrillers, but I quite enjoyed this. It definitely does read like an ag-centered Criminal Minds episode.
The biggest drawback was the amount of side-plots happening all at once. It was a bit difficult to keep up with what was happening, especially at the end of the story.
However, one of the main reasons this is getting 4⭐️ is because I couldn't guess how everything tied together or guess the twists/ending. Double-edged sword, I guess.

I don't feel any particular pull from the main storyline to continue on with the series, but I like the relationship between Riley and Logan and would like to see how they progress as partners.

Note: ACAB. The scene toward the end at the school was absolutely f*cked. I'm so tired of hearing or seeing police shoot first & think later, so the depiction of that in a book which I was attempting to read for pleasure was (at best) disappointing. There also wasn't an attempt by the author to show any meaning in that death, and there was no "justice" to be seen. Why include it?
