Girls Can Kiss Now: Essays by Jill Gutowitz

I am so happy this book exists. I found it so powerful to have a millennial/bear Gen Z lesbian voice in the queer writing space talking about what it’s like to be a lesbian in an time when what she describes is relevant to present experiences. There is such a rich body of “overcoming” stories and love stories and read-between-the-lines queer stories in the written canon, but having an interpretation that solidifies and gives space to queer culture as it exists today is an important step toward de-marginalization of queerness and queer culture. I found myself nodding my head and laughing out loud as I read, and sometimes being close to tears with a “yes! This! Me!” Kind of connection to this book. Highly recommend and really enjoyed.
