Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

4.0

Wow. This book is so raw so real and completely wrecked me. Love is patient. Love is kind. Love is raw. Love is ugly. Love destroys. Love suffocates. Love rebuilds. Love heals.
I don’t think there are enough words in the English language to adequately describe how wonderful this book is. I laughed I cried I SMILED like an absolute idiot and more than anything I loved. This book, it’s incredible. The author managed to hit you in your darkest depths and flip everything you think about love on its a head. It’s raw, its honest, its UGLY. I’m not exaggerating when I say that after reading this book you’ll feel different. I don’t know if I can’t explain it but maybe the beauty of this book is the fact that it’s so mundane, so simple. Life happens, shit hits the fan, and yet even in our darkest moments we can find someone who makes our darkness a little brighter.

If you have ever been in love or had your heart broken please do yourself a favor and read this book.Seriously.

Edit: I forgot to mention the male protagonist does things that are completely UNACCEPTABLE. I did not love Miles nor do I condone his behavior. Some of the more mature scenes were absolutely painful to read but I think that’s the point. Ultimately the books serves as a soft blow and unconventional reminder that despite all your flaws and parts of yourself that you never liked someone out there will love you for it. Someone will love you despite your darkest days and your worst qualities. We all are deserving of love even when we tell ourselves otherwise.

Also if you’re looking for a song that describes this book I recommend listening to Love Like This (acoustic) by Kodaline.
