As a Dutch person, I found it very funny how often the word Hema was used.
I went into this with low expectations because of the low rating, but honestly had a great time reading it. There was entertaining high school drama, a messy but cute love story and a mystery plot that kept me interested.
I do think it was kind of weird that the vampire world is imagined as a racist and homophobic place and our main character is the only one who keeps saying/thinking that that is bad, but then doesn't really do anything to make it better? What was the point, only to make us like her? It did not fully work.
Despite that weird aspect though, the story was very fun and a lot more entertaining than expected.
