Spoiler filled review -
Meghan was murdered after meeting a man (James) in a bar and he put something into her drink. She woke to him strangling her with her own scarf and was left near a dirt road. The next girl Brecia was murdered by the same man after a year of no contact after their break up, he showed up to her door and used an extension cord to strangle her before bashing her head into the pavement. Skye was tricked by the same guy who was a regular at her place of work at the coffee shop, he offered to take her on a date for her last night before she moved. Skye was suffocated as he kneeled on her back and lured out to a location by a creek near the woods. The mystery man's wife doesn't seem to know anything about what he's doing to these innocent people. Brecia was using her powers to try to sabotage him from meeting another woman on MatchStrike. Skye's parents got CCTV from the coffee shop thanks to Ken. The last girl James had gone on a date with reported him for trying to force her to drink (after he roofied her drink) she declined and left, reporting and getting his MatchStrike account banned. Someone finally stops and saw Meghan's shoe. Brecia is going to follow James onto the date with Meghan!!!! The police officer finally found Meghan's bones and I finally feel relief. Skye was also found after willing someone to stop. Skye finally met Brecia and it was such a great feeling. All of the detectives are getting involved and aware it is James but they need probable cause. Meghan finally made it to the station and met Brecia and Skye. Skye isn't excited to pass over as all her family and grandparents are still alive - she would be meeting the family she didn't know. The girls took turns whispering into James' wife, April's ear, determining that she was more susceptible of listening during her dream state. James began digging holes in the backyard at night to get rid of his family because he thought they wouldn't have enough food to last all 4 of them when he thought April and his two girls Kimmie and Emma were sleep. He took it as a survival of the fittest situation. When James was in the house April finally made an escape with the girls, claiming they were going to surprise their dad. They raced miles through the secluded forest around the cabin running away from James only to find James at the first place in the city they could find - sitting at the bar. James was arrested! There was a sign saying if someone's in trouble tell the bartender that you're asking for Andrea - April signaled to an older lady that needed to use the bathroom that she was in trouble and police promptly came arresting James, putting him under arrest for Meghan's murder as her fingerprint was the only one found in his car. All three of the girls got justice and he went to jail for the murder of all of them. At the end they faded into the memory of their loved ones, traveling the never ending trail of memories and infinite time in the afterlife.
Some powers that the girls had
Brecia found that she cannot walk through walls. She also figured out her emotions have power - lightbulb popped with her feelings, also her anger caused James' computer screen to go dark. Skye tried to use the lights flickering to her advantage when it comes to her mom and Ken (her old coworker) speaking. Meghan willed someone to stop their car, she figured out she can go back into her memories and speak with Bubbie and her other family.
All and all this book was AMAZING. Book was high intensity and kind've stressful but it was once of those books where I just couldn't put it down. It had me in a literal CHOKEHOLD. I wanted justice, I was screaming at the book, angry at the character - filled with emotion and just intense feelings. I loved it and look forward to reading more from this writer.
