When books are part of a series, it's tempting to the author to rehash much of the previous story. I often find that annoying. Barclay handles that deftly and doesn't overdo or over-explain the references to the past. You read the first book or you didn't, and this story doesn't depend upon that.

A satisfying mystery, murder and disaster strike this small town yet again. I'm a Barclay fan, but this wasn't one of my fave series....
