There's no place like Beartown. This book is nothing like I expected it to be, and it is so much better. We get all sides of issues while also knowing that goodness will reign in at least some people's hearts. This book navigates topics such as suicide, rape, and bullying. There are tough moments, but Backman easily balances them with sweet and tender truths about the world. I love the characters you're supposed to love, even when they don't always do the right thing right away. The writing is simple, lyrical, and beautiful.
