Lost by Sarah Prineas

While I certainly still enjoyed this book I felt that it lacked some of the charm of the original. I think that was because for much of the book Conn was on his own and i found in the original that the interactions between characters was my favorite part of the story. Conn seemed so driven, by the lose of his locus magicalicus and the desire to understand what the magic says that he has no depth about the harm he caused. He never seems cautious, despite having survived as a thief for so long. This book was definitely a second book in a trilogy, leaving the ending as a set up for the next book. I enjoyed the layers added to the first book but i felt like it could have been more. I'll have to see if the third book seems more satisfying. that being said I did love the added journal from Rowan and the developing character of Kerrn. I love that she seems to grow to like Conn, or at least feel protective of him in this book, yet she is still defined by her duty. She is a lovely complex character that grows on you throughout the course of the story.
