The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan

Fifth in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians urban fantasy series for middle-grade readers.

In 2010, The Last Olympian was nominated for the Carnegie Medal; in 2009, it was nominated for the Goodreads Choice Award for Favorite Book & Young Adult Series.

My Take
This is the last of the Percy Jackson series; Riordan is promising there will be other series featuring Camp Half Blood inmates, so we'll just cross our fingers.

In the meantime, we learn the truth about Hermes, Luke, and May; a new Oracle is chosen; Grover comes into his own; the camp traitor is revealed; Hades and Nico create their own role; Poseidon shows his true colors; and, oh yeah, Percy gets his in the end…and makes a lot of people happy.

The Story
Oh, Percy and his fellow campers are in trouble! Kronos and his army are invading New York and the gods are off chasing a distraction. Without help, Olympus will be lost and both the gods and our own world will disappear.
