The Nakano Thrift Shop by Hiromi Kawakami
5.0

Like most Japanese books of this kind, it’s filled with that weird heartwarming gloominess I love so much.
Word of advice: keep snacks at hand. This book mentions food all the time, (the characters are always eating, thinking of eating) and if you’re like me, you’ll end up terribly hungry.

*edit:
Spoiler in spanish, they translated the title as "mr Nakano and his women" or "mr. Nakano and women" , why???? The book wasn't about Nakano. It wasn't about him and "his women" and how he was connected to them. He was important bc he owned the shop and without him none in the book would've known each other, but reading what the book's about in spanish you'd think it's a completely different book (it says: Mr Nakano is basically the main character and every woman in the book is his lover). Nakano's relationships are mentioned, but as a quirk and I thought maybe that "other book" (that nonexistent book) was about that secret life of his, with his women. I honestly thought they were two separate books with the same character and I was this close to purchasing it AGAIN, in spanish, thinking that other book was never translated into english. Who writes those titles and synopses?
