I Will Rise by D.A. Willows, D.A. Willows
1.0
1.5 out of 5 stars for me.
I tried so hard to like this book. I really did.
I sincerely hope that all the grammatical and spelling errors are fixed in the official published book because there were a lot of them.
Cassandra is one of my favorite characters from Troy mythology, and to see her like this, while I understand this is a retelling, she was nothing like I would think she would be.
She claimed to love Cameron with all her heart and wanted no other man, but every other guy she meets she lusts for very hard, making it seem like her love for Cameron, nothing but a sham.
The members of the 13 that we met, I felt, were bland and boring. There are no real characters that I felt that I enjoyed, or we got such a brief meeting of them that they left no real impression for me.
The plot and pacing were just bad, honestly. Whenever there was a time jump, I had to go back and reread to see what had exactly happened.
The thing I was most excited about and wanted to know more about was when her younger brother mentioned he ended a four year relationship that wasn't hers.
The spice in this book was meh at best, and I found myself rolling my eyes at how descriptive some of the sex scenes were and wishing that they would end.
Again, I wish I really could have liked this book and given it a higher rating, but I just couldn't. I had to make myself finish the book because I didn't want another DNF for this year.
Maybe someone will like this book and give it 5 stars and follow this author, but sadly, it's not me.
