Hero at the Fall
by Alwyn Hamilton
The end of another series. And this was a good one! I can't stand it when authors get to the final book in a series and then throw all the rules out the window. Thankfully, Alwyn Hamilton did an excellent job closing out the Rebel of the Sands series. The story picked up right after the events of Traitor to the Throne. The main character, Amani, finds herself in charge of the rebellion since its top leaders are currently imprisoned. She makes several mistakes and some very tough choices, but ultimately gets the rebellion where it needs to be.
The plot was fast paced and it was very easy to read several chapters quickly. There was so much action, magic, and djinni! I will say that the final battle may be a bit disappointing to some people. There really wasn't a lot to it, but it was still captivating. I actually like that the battle was over with quickly, because I tend to get really bored when they are long and drawn out.
I highly recommend this series and am looking forward to Alwyn Hamilton's next project.
