I generally love an unreliable narrator, but the narrator needs to be at least a little likable or interesting. This narrator is a mess: alone, immoral, alcoholic, lying, mean, and yet somehow sure of her superiority. Perhaps with more plot or more interesting characters to interact with, the narrator could have been more interesting. But the only truly interesting other character is Bruno, and we never really meet him at all.
