The Things We Cannot Say by Kelly Rimmer
4.0

This is more of a 3.5, but I'm willing to round it up because the historical characters are based on the real story of the author's forefathers. I simply couldn't care for Alice's life at home, her family and struggles. I hope, as the notes mention that she did justice to families with child on the spectrum; but I simply couldn't care for Alice's problems, sorry. It's still a good book however, and I enjoyed Alina's depiction of the slow creeping advance of horrors! But I'd almost recommend speed-reading Alice's chapters to focus on Alina's story if you were to read the book and were short on time.
