Fingersmith by Sarah Waters

I’m gonna say- I dnf super early at 45%

This book is so good. I just hate that I watched the movie first. This book needs you to settle down to read it, maybe in bursts maybe not. It’s very dense at times and the way that Waters writes her prose is extremely beautiful and well done. The only problem is that she does *too* much of it. It makes the reading difficult due to just how much she packs in. And unfortunately, I lost the war.

Having clear knowledge of the plot already doesn’t help with reading this. I felt that I was just going through the story in a different light (the original one) and that I wasn’t gleaming as much new information from my reading up until this point. I think if I had no idea of the plot I would be much more invested.

Instead, I now really look forward to reading Waters’ other books, since her quality of writing is absolutely amazing and how she creates her plots is equally astounding.
