Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris

This was a fun ride and I enjoyed reading it. I wish it didn't end so soon, but I absolutely loved the last line of the book.

But, there were way too many things that irked me and pulled my rating down:

- Has the author ever met a person with Down's? Or did any research? The way Millie talked was ridiculous

- We are meant to fear Jack, but I felt it was lacking in detail on exactly how. We get that he's a psychopath, but not revealing what he does in Thailand and what he had in plan for Millie seemed lazy rather than mysterious.

- Why are there no named Thai people working in the Bangkok hotel? The author couldn't have switched out Mr Ho or Kiko for an actual Thai name...? Or are those the only two Asian names the author knew of?

- The fact that despite the main character being extremely dumb, she actually calls herself intelligent. I read The Therapist by the same author, where the main character was also very dumb. If Grace was actually meant to be written as intelligent, I feel like this reflects the author's abilities...

- This is more against the writing style rather than the book itself, but I find the dialogue for all the characters very unrealistic. The characters overshare and speak like they're writing an essay, rather than having a conversation. I found this in The Therapist as well.

Kind of a waste, because I would have liked this a lot more if it weren't for the execution. Liked the plot, but I'm not sure if I should be reading any other of the author's books.
