This was an extremely entertaining, very humorous adventure of a band of old men getting together again for one last mission, and all the hijinks they get into on the way to save their leader's daughter. We spend a lot of time with these characters in their journey, so that by the time we do reach the end, it doesn't really last long and can feel a bit confusing and frustrating but is actually the perfect way to finish the story, since the journey, the character interactions and emotional beats are more important overrall.

The band is filled with hilarious characters who I loved following around, especially our narrator Clay Cooper, a bear of a man with a heart of gold with whom we find ourselves sharing the best emotional beats of the story as well as some of the put-uppon tired old man humor, which I loved. Moog, the wizard, is both useless and also a genius, and I loved him. The bard gag was hilarious, especially the way they did end up getting a new one.

All in all, this was an incredibly well-written, fun and engaging read, just losing me a bit at the end, which is why it gets more of a 4.5-4.75 than a full 5-stars.
