By Any Other Name
by Lauren Kate
This was actually pretty cute, but I have to knock a star off due to kind of being queerbaited. Noa Calloway is said to be a woman for the first 30% of this book. Judging by just the synopsis, she has a secret - nothing indicates that the secret is she is actually a man. Not in a transphobic way, but just that Noa was always a man pretending to be a woman in name only.
Still, I feel like I was kind of robbed.
This is definitely one of those enemies to lovers romances where they are in the "friends" stage for most of the book. I actually don't mind this, as I can get tired of the "Hate - friends - lovers - misunderstanding - breakup - back together" I can do a more linear "Hate - friends - lovers" story. Plus they are pretty cute, and the experiences they share are romantic. The ending's also a little quick.
