Ghosts of My Life: Writings on Depression, Hauntology and Lost Futures by Mark Fisher

2.0

I went into this really looking to enjoy it, but unfortunately I couldn't shake the feeling that much of the basis of what the author is talking about is a somewhat cliche feeling that media was better "back in the day".

Beyond this, much of the analysis offered has the same energy as a mid-tier youtube video essayist. In fact, after reading this, I completely understand why he is so often cited on the platform. Perhaps Mr. Fisher missed his true calling.

I personally did not find this work particullarlly compelling. Certain parts were very insightful and the section on Jimmy Saville in particular was excellent, but ultimately it was bit of a slog.
