Guido Brunetti & family are a pleasure. This series was recommended when I’d read all the Three Pines books and was looking for something similar. The relationship between the Brunetti couple is appealing, and it’s fun getting to know them and their friends. The characters here aren’t quite as fun, lovable, or quirky (as the Three Pines citizens), but the setting more than makes up for it. Leon does not shy away from prickly topics or graphic talk. Gritty mysteries and the overtones of government corruption with one man doing all he can to bring the truth to light make this a series worth revisiting again and again. Loved how this story opened up as it went, and really appreciated the ending.
