This was a new author for me, and a slightly different format in that the book is actually two novellas. I sort of liked them both but loved neither.

The first story features Sam who is an art dealer and Mia who is a Dr researching cancer. The story starts the ‘morning after’ with Sam unable to remember much of the night before. Sam is also really unlikeable to start with and her attitude towards women (and the way she describes Mia in her mind) was gross. She’s also never been with a woman before and there’s a lot of stuff about her past relationships with men. But she feels an instant connection with Mia (that I didn’t really buy). Mia is a saint, who unfortunately is also the sister of Sam’s first boyfriend. This situation is also gross. Even after they get together there’s a lot of push and pull and weird family dramas. But the story is given a wrap up ending and epilogue, so you get to see how things turn out.

Second story features Abby and Kendall, and I loved their instant connection but not the fact that Kendall was married. Once Abby discovers this, there’s just a lot of mutual pining and this goes on for the majority of the story. This one could have used an epilogue, I felt like we deserved a bit more of their HEA after all the angst.

So, two intriguing premises, but the execution left a bit to be desired. Still, I was intrigued enough to want to try a full length book by the author. 3 stars.
