Wow…was expecting one thing and it turned into something different. For the briefest moment, I thought the freedom-loving girl might help the more control-loving boy learn that taking away weapons doesn’t keep them from being traded and used any more than demanding children fight each other to the death to show who’s boss will keep their families from rebelling.
I don’t want to give spoilers or rehash the blurb you get from the publisher. I loved Tigris, Lysistrata, Sejanus, Festus, Persephone, Ma, Pluribus, Reaper. Felt bad for Highbottom from the beginning.
This book was an emotional roller coaster to read.
Suzanne Collins is brilliant at world-building; her word pictures vivid and fragrant. While the ending might not be my favorite, I cannot deny how good the author is at her craft.
