For the thriller aspect, this was pretty good.
Not too predictable and kept you on your toes because you didn’t ever really knew who to suspect and where the story was gonna go.

What bothered me about this was the way Hazel was depicted. If a male author is going to make his main character a female, he needs to get maybe some input and perspective from other women. Instead of going off of stereotypes and misconceptions about women and their experiences especially in cases with sexual assault and discrimination. It also really put me off that as a white man, he made Hazel Asian and was then writing about the experiences of Asian people and Asian women when it  isn’t his place to really do that. I don’t know it just didn’t sit right with me. It’s important to have diversity and representation in books and I appreciate that that is what he was going for, I just think you need to again, not go off misconceptions.
