LGBT History Month (2/12): What a beautiful story! The story flowed so well, with beautifully structured sentences, almost like poetry. You will cry, you will feel, you will truly not be able to put this book down. We get to watch these two boys grow and learn from one another and themselves, through friendship, and eventually love. Ari was relatable, as someone who enjoys being alone but finding pleasure in select people's company. He was stubborn, he was flawed, he was kind, he was human. His parents are flawed as well, human and relatable in their need for trying to ignore the past. Dante was someone who truly made Ari see the world differently; he made me see the world differently. The representation of lgbt+ mexican-american boys is beautiful and important.
