The Shadow of the Torturer by Gene Wolfe

slow-paced

2.0

I was just so bored. I couldn't be bothered to care about what happened next. I quit around 2/3rds through the book. I'm aware there is a chance that the thousand unconnected moments that never have any point may all get tied up in the last few minutes, but I don't care. I have a couple of guesses for a big twist as I am under the impression that the whole thing is an unreliable narrator. However, in the back of my mind, all I could think about was all the books on my TBR that I wasn't reading because I was reading this book. If this wasn't a book club book, I would have quit a lot earlier, or if I'm being completely honest, wouldn't have picked it up.
