I think I enjoyed this more as a really good smut book than a fantasy romance book. The tension and sex outshined the actual story for me. Obviously, that itself is personal taste, I think the author edged me out quite a bit and that's not common in any smut media. This is definitely written with the female gaze.
Because all I wanted was the continued sexual tension between Freya and Bjorn, the pacing was too slow for the story since that was on the backburner for me. The twist was quite obvious but obvious does not mean it's bad. This was great setup for the next book which I'll definitely read.
