Lovely and life-affirming while also bung incredibly boring and difficult to read. Maybe the first book I've ever read which sparked such an intense clash of readerly emotions for me. I was simultaneously underlining every third sentence and dreading picking it up because I found it such a slog. How to make sense of that? It's a very humanist narrative about the joys of being alive on this special planet, which I really appreciate. But almost nothing ever happens, and my dopamine craving brain wanted more substance. Took me a long time to finish but I'm glad I did.
