The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
4.0

I keep thinking about this book. I am reading something else or two somethings else and ... well, I think it will be with me for longer that I expected.

The thing I think about now is this theme of running away--but we get "borne back ceaselessly to the past." Somehow an unresolved past (long ago or not so long ago) can kill you if you don't resolve it or keep on moving.

I have been pondering also the extent that Gatsby still represents an America of garish excess, pining away for some ideal, begins to rot at its moral core when it could be seeking its full potential.
