King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo

So good. Just genuinely SO good.

The yearning between Nikolai and Zoya that they both desperately want to suppress makes me want to scream (in a good way).

I absolutely adore Zoya. As much as this is supposed to be a “Nikolai duology”, this book would be so empty without her. The way we finally get to see the reasoning for Zoya’s attitude after seeing her be mean to Alina for 3 books, it’s perfect. She’s really the perfect character to counteract Nikolai.

Honestly my one complaint? Reviving the Darkling seems like SUCH an afterthought of S&B, but at least it’s somewhat justified in a way that makes sense.
