Happy Place by Emily Henry

4.0

This is my first Emily Henry book and I am so glad I received Beach Read so I can jump right in to more of her writing.

Wyn and Harriet are an amazing couple. I loved how we get past chapters they build the relationship and current chapters to tell you how it’s fallen apart. They end up on a week vacation with their friends, hiding that they have split. While the end was slightly predictable, I didn’t mind as I loved the journey we took. There’s definitely some angst, found family, slow burn and definitely some teasing with the burn.

The friends become just as important as the main couple. They add great character and personality to the story. I fell in love with them as much as Wyn and Harry.

There’s a nod to mental health, which I am always an advocate for. I really enjoyed the way we got to watch Harriet’s struggle with life and finding her place, but then learning she is the one who decides her life.

This is borderline a closed door romance, which isn’t usually my style, but I enjoyed it and the tension building up to it.
