Second Chance Summer
by Morgan Matson
So firstly I didn't finish this book. It started of okayish, the characters were meh. Frankly the only reason I continued to read on was because I related to her and her issues regarding her siblings. However, I got a third of the way through the book, and I kept questioning what she did that made her best friend and that guy hate her. Turns out it's just because she said something about how she didn't like the boy next door and her bestie got mad because she liked him? It was a really, really petty reason and since my curiosity was sated. I dropped it.
The book I would certainly target at the lower age range of the YA spectrum. The writing was okay. The characters were very hit or miss for me, but I didn't like the majority of them. Bluntly although it was a bunch of little things that stacked up to me, dropping this book, overall, to me, the book felt very middle class white feminism and I just didn't enjoy it. At all.
