this was in my tbr list for so long and now I read it!!! it did not disappoint tbh. if you're into dark stories, academia, corruption arcs, and just dissecting dynamics and relationships between two different people, go for this book.

it is slow but menacing and the buildup is really good. the book was so well-written and it just was so good in showcasing the dynamic between paul and julian and how obsessed and disgusted they are with each other. imagine reading page after page of paul just being an observer of julian and being fully aware of how julian is just using him. it's sick but the characters are v interesting to read about as individuals and as a pair

the writing is just great tbh it had so many good scenes and passages. the plot is frustrating but enjoyable. the characters are complex and it's nice reading about them.

some scenes had v detailed descriptions of violence btw. they're v toxic to each other and it gets worse over time

overall, go read this book. nemerever is a v good writer.
